What is the definition of a government? Definitions and etymology A government is  the system to govern a state or community . The Columbia Encyclopedia defines government as "a system of social control under which the right to make laws, and the right to enforce them, is vested in a particular group in society".  TYPES OF GOVERNMENT Democracy Monarchy Oligarchy Dictatorship Aristocracy Representative democracy Communism Constitutional monarchy Anarchy What is the difference between democratic and authoritarian government?   Physical features range from  bushveld, grasslands, forests, deserts and majestic mountain peaks, to wide unspoilt beaches and coastal wetlands . What are the physical features of Southern Africa? Most of South Africa's landscape is made up of  high, flat areas called plateaus . These lands are covered with rolling grasslands, called highveld, and tree-dotted plains called bushveld.
